Lou Manganiello

Head Coach, AquaKids Program Director

• Currently coaches Miami Westminster Christian School boys and girls teams
• Owner of AquaKids Inc. Swim School, Swim Team and Summer Swim Camp
• Head coach SOFLO site coach
• Former University of South Florida women's assistant coach (1982-87). Forty years coaching experience at every level of swimming
• Coached Olympic Trial qualifiers in 2012, 2016 and 2021
• Several high school state finalists and champions
• Coached USF's 1985 NCAA Division II women's champion team
• Inducted into the University of South Florida Athletic Hall of Fame in 2009
• Coached AquaKids Sharks program to USA Swimming Silver Medal club status.

Isidro Planell

Head Age Group Coach, Mako Sharks, Blue Sharks, Hammerhead Sharks, Safe Sport Coordinator

• Graduated from Florida International University in 2018 B.S. Sport & Fitness Studies, Physical Education
• currently head age group coach of AquaKids Sharks site, coaching the Mako Sharks, Tiger Sharks & Hammerhead Sharks groups
• six years age group coach with AquaKids Sharks
• Miami Westminster Christian School Middle School Coach
• former assistant coach for NCAA Division I FIU women's swimming and diving team (Conference USA Champions 2019 & 2020)
• Counselor Coach at the University of Texas Longhorn Swim camp
• ASCA Level II-certified. 

Garrett Oliver

Age Group Coach, Bull Sharks, Dusky Sharks

• Currently attending Miami Dade Honors College
• Started swimming with AquaKids at age 5 and swam competitively from ages 9-18 with AK Sharks, SOFLO and Miami Palmetto Senior High
• Started coaching at AquaKids FUNdamental Swim Camp in the summer of 2018
• Currently coaching Bull Sharks since 2021.

Sara Jones

CE Coach, Leopard Sharks

Coach Sara has been an Aquakids angel/leopard coach for nearly 20 years. At four years old, Sara started competitive swimming and loves to share her passion with her swimmers. Sara and her husband Mike raised four boys in Pinecrest. Her boys swam for Coach Lou then Coral Reef, Palmetto, and Coral Shores High Schools. She now enjoys teaching her grandchildren to swim. Sara and Mike were both born and raised in Miami but now live in Key Largo.

Kevin Planell

CE Coach, Angel/Leopard Sharks

My name is Kevin Planell and I am currently a senior at Florida International University studying Sport Management. I am 21 years old and have been working with AquaKids since 2015. Participating in sports is one of my favorite pass times whether it be watching, playing, or even coaching. I am very passionate about working with kids, and absolutely love working at AquaKids!

Shirley Oliver

Office Manager/Coach, Angel/Leopard Sharks

Coach Shirley joined the Aquakids family Spring 2009 as a swim school instructor for our learn to swim and continuing education (CE) classes. In addition to substitute coaching she currently handles our swim testing, class placement and scheduling as well as other administrative responsibilities.
